Week 1 Charities Overview
It’s official; changeclothing.com is up and running and making a difference, one t-shirt at a time. It’s been a long journey to get here and so many people stepped up, came into and out of the process along the way… in reality, this launch truly reflects what it takes to make a difference in the world today: Many people coming together, using their talents and resources, and committing to a common goal. Thanks for being a part of the changeclothing community and we hope you’ll find one of the causes below worthy of your support.
This week’s area of focus is Human in honor of World Humanitarian Day, August 19th. World Humanitarian Day recognizes those who face danger and adversity while helping others. To celebrate the launch of changeclothing we will be supporting World Humanitarians all week through our “Support Those Who Support Others” campaign. This week, we recognize those who help others, honoring those who make sacrifices every day to help people around the world. Help us help others change the world, one t-shirt at a time. (And remember, next week there will be another shirt design, another set of charities, and another chance to be part of the change!) Nifty, huh?
First, the International Rescue Committee: visit http://www.rescue.org/irc-mali find out about what the IRC is doing in Mali to alleviate human suffering by rescuing, identifying, and reuniting children in Mali separated from their families by the ongoing conflict. You can choose the IRC to receive the $8 donation we make on your behalf when you buy a changeclothing t-shirt this week and provide safe havens and a way home for these children.
Second, the Mercy Corps: visit http://www.mercycorps.org/niger to find out how the Mercy Corps is working in this area of West Africa devastated by drought. If you choose the Mercy Corps for your $8 donation this week, your $8 will help provide a meal to more than 23,000 severely malnourished people of Niger.
Third, Action Aid: visit http://www.actionaidusa.org/floods-and-landslides-uttarakhand to find out how Action Aid is helping victims of the massive flooding and landslides in Northern India. If you choose Action Aid for your $8 donation through changeclothing this week, your $8 will help rebuild a home for the more than 300,000 people whose lives have been turned upside down.
Fourth, Concern Worldwide: visit https://www.concern.net/donate/appeals/syria-emergency-appeal to see how Concern Worldwide is working to meet the staggering human need of refugees in Syria. If you choose Concern Worldwide as your changeclothing donation this week, your $8 will help to deliver clean drinking water and other household needs to those impacted by two years of atrocities in the ongoing and escalating Syrian conflict.
And, remember… every week we will feature a new shirt design, a new set of 4 worthwhile charities, and an overall cause from one of our areas of focus: Human, Animal, Earth & Outreach. Every week, you get to choose the charity for the $8 donation we make on behalf of every shirt purchased. Change your clothing, change the world. One week at a time!
